The Red Hood

I missed painting on a black canvas, so I chose this painting to work on.  I love the contrast and the ability to play with light when working on a black canvas.  This was a simple yet very satisfying painting to complete.

Red Hood (c)

I wanted the hood to have almost a feeling of fire.  I got this effect through using lots of soft light, hard light, and glow layers.  I also threw in some yellow into the eyes and lips to give the appearance of the hood reflecting from various objects.

I think I’m getting better at making these speed videos.  You’ll have to let me know what you think, and if you want something different from them.

As usual, this painting is available from my store, and the voice over version of this video is available on my patreon.  I’m trying to put together a class, so paintings may be a bit slow for a while, but I’ll let know when that’s complete.  Talk to you next time!
