Print Contest!

I’ve decided that I love you guys so much that I’m starting a contest.  Whoo hoo!  There will be two prizes.  1) 8×10 print of one of my paintings (you choose the painting)  2) a hand signed postcard of a painting I will choose at random (2 people will receive this one)

Here are the rules.  You must complete each of these to qualify:

  1. On Facebook, Instagram (@shalevbasya), or Pinterest, share one of my paintings with an explanation of why you love it.
  2. Use the hashtag #shalevcontest in your shared post.
  3. Like my page on the social media platform that you chose to share my painting. (SECRET: If you’ve already like my page, you’ve already completed this step.)

I will select the winners at random.  You will have more chances to win, the more you share.  If you share on all three platforms, you will have 3 entries.  If you share more than once on the same platform, I will love you for it, but you will only receive one entry.  Just make sure to use the hashtag so that I can find your entries!  The contest ends next Friday October 19, 2018.

Good luck to you all!

Through the Eyes of Gratitude

When you look through the eyes of gratitude, the world becomes a magical and amazing place.  -Jennifer Gayle

What is it that you’re grateful for?  I’m sure there are many things.  For some people this question is harder than it is for others, but it’s still an important question.  It reminds us of what of beautiful and wonderful in our lives.  So I suggest a little exercise that we can do together.  List 5 things that you’re grateful for in the comments.  It can be anything.

Here’s mine:

  1. COFFEE:  I love coffee.  I live on coffee.  I have it every day, and it makes me happy.
  2. ART:  Art allows for expression of things that sometimes can’t be said.  It also allows you a look into the minds of those who created it, and humanity in general.
  3. THE HUMAN BRAIN:  The human brain is an amazing thing.  It allows us to accomplish mundane tasks, like cleaning and eating, while allowing us to contemplate abstract concepts like the nature of a human soul.
  4. MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY:  Because of medical advances, we’ve been able to eliminate many deadly diseases thanks to vaccines, and we have better explanations for someone having a seizure other than demonic possession.
  5. FARMING EQUIPMENT:  While there are disadvantages to modern farming technology, there are also many benefits and technology keeps advancing.  Modern farming equipment reduces the time spent on farming, reduces the the amount of water used, and reduces the overall impact on the ecosystem.

What are your 5?  Tell me about it in the comments.  Have a painting or drawing you want me to see?  Let me know on instagram @shalevbasya.  I love seeing your stuff.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Layered Twist with Tails

This one is a little more complicated than the last one I did, but I still think it’s easy enough.  Of course I’m comfortable tying scarves and have lots of practice.  I like to have something hanging down, but I don’t like it to be super long.  So this one is nice, and these scarves are sparkly!

Don’t forget to send pictures if you try it out!  You can also tweet them to me at @shalevbasya.

I wasn’t doing too well last week, so videos didn’t happen, but we’re back this week.  Building on my last videos.  I now have one that shows you how to do layers and a twist.  Have fun and send me pictures!  You can also tweet them to me at @shalevbasya.

So since everyone seems to want to know how I tie my scarves I thought I’d do a little demonstration for you.  Breaking it up into two videos seemed the most reasonable.  I may make others.  I haven’t quite decided yet.  The first one just shows what goes on underneath the scarf.  That happens everyday, and then the second video is just a simple basic tie that I do variations of and then dress up with other scarves and ribbons and such.

If you try it out, you should send me pictures.  I would love to see them!  You can also tweet them to me at @shalevbasya.
