Shh… This is only for you.

The first order of business is to tell about the winner for contest.  My mother ended up the winner.  Aren’t parents wonderful?  She chose this painting as her favorite and the one she wanted as the free art print.  She said in her post that this one reminded her of all the times I sat by the window to watch the rain.  It’s true I do love watching the rain, and I love a good thunderstorm.  So I hope you enjoy your print Mommy!  I love you!

I have one more thing to share with you.  You may have heard of the Patreon page I created, but I thought I’d give you a little tour so you know what you’d be getting.

If you’re not familiar with Patreon, the basic premise is that you give a certain amount (the lowest one is just $2!!!) each month, and for that contribution, you can get different rewards such as reference photos, photos of my layering process, 10% off any store item, monthly postcards with a new artwork of mine, full length painting videos, and wallpapers of my artwork that fit a standard computer screen.  You can choose the level you want and how much you pay.  So go check it out and comment below once you’ve done that!

I’m also close to being done with my current art series.  Who’s excited for that?  I know I am.  If you have thoughts on the pieces I’ve completed so far, leave that in the comments too.  I love hearing from you!

Hopefully you have a wonderful day and I’ll talk to you later!

The Butterfly Woman

I finally got the new cord to my tablet!  Yay!  I got to finish the painting I’ve been thinking about FOREVER since my cord broke.  Here it is.

Tada!  I really enjoyed making all the butterflies, especially playing with the different effects of the layers.  I even figured out how to do a screen capture.  So now you have a speed video.  You’re welcome!  If you want the full length version, you got to become a patron, but you can enjoy the speed video for free.

I also just got the postcards for my patrons.  If you want it, you got to go sign up.  And yes, I am trying to bribe you with postcards of my artwork, but hey, you get a new one each month.  Consider it a trade.

New Things

Lots of fun new things are happening and if you don’t know about them, you should follow me on one of my social media platforms.  Don’t worry, I’ll put links below.  First of all, I finally released my exclusive look into my previous painting on my Patreon account.  I have up the collage of all my layers and show you my reference photos.  There are also things I only tell you there.  So go check it out.  You’ll get to see the full photos there along with my explanation.

Then there’s also my store.  This month is Pride Month so in celebration of that, go use the code PRIDESBW to get 20% off your order.  This only goes until the 31st, so do it now!  I’ll wait here for you to check it out.

You back?  What did you get?  Tell me about it down in the comments and make sure to follow me at one of my social media sites.  See you later!

Multiple Art Incomes

Multiple Art Incomes

If you’re like most people, you would love to just make paintings, sell them, and live a happy life.  However, this usually doesn’t work.  You need multiple sources coming from your art.  Often times people supplement that with teaching.  You can do this in person or via the internet.  DVDs, Google Hangouts, they’re beautiful things.  Teaching isn’t for everyone.  I understand that.  Luckily, there are other things.

First there’s the well known art prints, which I’m currently working on being able to offer.  This gives you a way to sell a piece more than once.  There are many companies to choose from and each has their advantages and disadvantages.  It really depends on what you want as to which company you choose to go with.  Art prints will usually not be enough.

Speed videos are also popular.  Put them up on YouTube and turn on the advertisements.  You could also do vlogs if you choose.  This will also provide you with searchability as well. Don’t expect to get rich off YouTube videos.  No one really does, but if you have enough content with enough people watching, it’s at least something.

With these speed videos, you now have some content that you can offer as paid content.  Have full length videos that people pay to access on a site like Patreon.  There are also other bonuses you can add for them.  Look around different pages and see what other people offer to give you ideas.  You can do it on a monthly or by content basis.  You can see my page here.

The point with all of this is that you will need more than one, possibly all of them to have a living with art.  You may play around with them until you figure out where you land.  Not everyone is the same.  It’s a fun adventure that all of us go on.  If you have creative ways that you’ve earned money let me know about it in the comment section below.
